World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item comes with a track for upgrading it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increases when it is upgraded. This value is the total of all of its leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is because of how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item to get upgraded.
It can also be used as a gating requirement when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to an lower level). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
The level of an item will allow players to compare the potency of gear when deciding to purchase or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be able to deal. The level of an item can be used to evaluate items when looking at a vendor's inventory.
On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the full item description, including its level. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then entering /itemlevel into chat.
There are a few theories about how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory states that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates how valuable an item's stats really are. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This could result in a calculated item's ilvl that is usually very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an amount to its haste rating or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Item stats are a big element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The stat modifications of a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's level.
official website to an item can increase its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.
Affixes can also be used to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can provide the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the cooldowns), or make the item unique by putting a special name to the item.
All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.
Players can upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll attaches. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will contain at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item, or a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
This is another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or selecting which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the odds of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is more useful for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.
Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading that increases with each item level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can be created or spawned with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase an item's existing Luck up to 140.
Additionally some items, like the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be bought in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their chance of success or stop them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%.
The luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade. Each item has an initial success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5percent.
Note that item upgrades are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
